Mural Project for the Sacramento Crisis Nursery
Joyce Willow shares her design for the playground wall for the Sacramento Crisis Nursery. As a special Service project Club members will be painting the wall in August and September.
Women's Empowement Dinner May 2008
********************************* Awards and Grants Awarded $6,000 in mini-grants to Wonder, Inc., Something Special, Linkage to Education, Women’s Empowerment, My Sister’s House, and Sacramento Crisis Nursery Sold Macy’s Shop for a Cause cards and collected $1,010 for our service fund. Responded spontaneously to Soroptimist International’s President’s Appeal Restoring Dignity 2007 by collecting just over $400 for Fistula Relief and Aid Fund in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Produced the Annual Adoption Day Party for 106 children and their new families. Collected $2,256.87 Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army, $500 of which was donated by SIGS. From raffles at the District 4/5 Meetings, we collected $925 to be applied to Adoption Day expenses and $132 from Happy Dollar donations that were sent to the Human Trafficking Awareness Program. Served Easter Brunch to 60 women at St. John’s Shelter for Women and Children. Toured and donated $380 to Sacramento Crisis Nursery, plus allocated $200 from our Service Funds to be used to paint the outside wall facing the play area. Presented $600 to Woman’s Opportunity Award recipient, Genevieve Bottum Supported Women’s Empowerment by purchasing a table and a half for WE’s Annual Gala and participated in set-up for the event. *************************** Social Activities
